CRISS 1263 CD    ADAM ROGERS QUINTET - APPARITIONS-

On Apparitions, for the third time, guitarist Adam Rogers convenes
band mates Ed Simon (piano), Scott Colley (bass) and Clarence Penn
(drums), who appear on his well-received label debut, Art Of The
Invisible (Criss 1223) and Allegory (Criss 1242).

From the latter date, tenor saxophonist Chris Potter, a Criss Cross
regular, returns as well.
The 8 originals, performed in trio, quartet and quintet configurations,
span the gamut from ballad to burnout, and all members play with
appropriate nuance and fire.
The date will burnish Rogers' reputation as one of the jazz world's
freshest voices.

CRISS 1264 CD	PETER BEETS' NEW YORK TRIO - PAGE  3 -

New York Trio, Page 2, gave the world notice of a new bop, ballads
and blues virtuoso.

The celebration continues with yet a third riveting effort from
this Dutch sensation and his famous American colleagues, bassist

A Criss Cross mainstay in every sense of the word, tenor saxophonist=09
Walt Weiskopf has developed a distinguished catalog, varying ensembles=20
and his writing so that each album is an event in and of itself.

For his ninth release for the label, Weiskopf teams with alto man
Andy Fusco, and the pair locks in tight for a nimble quintet date
consisting of a handful of originals and a few standards, including
transcendent performances of Jimmy Rowles' The Peacocks and Keith
Jarrett's Shades of Jazz.

In the rhythm section: pianist Joel Weiskopf, bassist Paul Gill,
and drummer Billy Drummond.

Jonathan Kreisberg's second outing for Criss Cross features
the versatile guitarist's working organ trio with Gary Versace
at the Hammond B3 and Mark Ferber on drums.

The forward looking group demonstrates its considerable knowledge
of the jazz tradition while subtly stretching melody, harmony,
rhythm and texture to push the music into the future.

The date delivers fresh, inspired interpretations of three Great
American Songbook classics along with Thelonious Monk's Ask Me Now
and four impressive originals, that demonstrate the leader's prowess
as a composer of intelligent songs that swing in a new direction

Perhaps no contemporary pianist blends Latin and Jazz vocabulary
with the deftness and fluency of Ed Simon, who demonstrates the
point on his second Criss Cross outing.

Bassist Avishai Cohen and drummer Adam Cruz, both equally versed
in the art of telling stories in swing and clave, join Simon on
a program of six originals and a standard You're My Everything.

Guitarist Adam Rogers, himself a Criss Cross artist, and vocalist
Luciana Souza augment the trio on the tune Unknown Path.
